KLANG: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali says the Selangor palace will issue a statement on Monday (May 21) over his status as Mentri Besar.

Azmin was appointed as the Economic Affairs Minister in Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s newly formed Cabinet.

When met outside Istana Bukit Kayangan in Shah Alam near here on Sunday afternoon, Azmin told reporters his two-hour audience with Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had gone well.

However, he declined to say if he had resigned as Mentri Besar to join the Cabinet.

"The palace will issue a statement on the status at 9am tomorrow," said Azmin.

When asked if he will be among the Federal Ministers scheduled to be sworn in on Monday at Istana Negara before the King, Azmin reiterated that the statement from the palace will shed light on the matter.
