KOTA BARU: The eldest son of the late PAS icon, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, is barred from leading prayers at a mosque in Pulau Melaka here.

Nik Omar Nik Ab Aziz, who was shunned by his family for contesting as a Pakatan Harapan candidate in GE14, confirmed he was barred from preaching and leading prayers at the mosque near his family home.

“My brother Nik Abduh told me that I am no longer allowed to be an imam here.

“He told me it is our family’s decision,” he said during a morning sermon at Wisma Tok Guru in Salor yesterday.

Nik Omar had earned the wrath of his family for contesting the Chempaka state seat against PAS, which he eventually lost.

“If this is the price I have to pay, so be it. I would not backtrack,” he said.
