Man runs amok with parang in Teluk Intan, kills four children

IPOH: A man in his 30s ran amok with a parang and killed three young siblings, while seriously injuring four others in Teluk Intan at 2pm on May 17.

The man, who was known to some of the victims, had gone to a house in Kampung Sungai Haji Muhammad Selekoh with a parang before attacking a five-year-old boy, and his two other siblings aged three and two.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar said the three children died at the house during the attack, while their 35-year-old mother sustained serious injuries to her fingers, face and thighs.

He said the man then went to a nearby primary school, and attacked the nine-year-old sister of the three young children.

“The girl sustained severe injuries to her right hand, and head. In the process the girl’s nine-year-old friend was attacked and she too sustained injuries to her head and hands," he said.

ACP Mohd Marzukhi said that a A 40-year-old teacher of the school was also sustained injuries to his cheeks when he was attacked.

All the injured victims have been brought to the Teluk Intan hospital.

ACP Mohd Marzukhi said the suspect has no record of mental illness, and that the case is being investigated under Section 302 for murder.
