PETALING JAYA: Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said he had been the victim of false accusations regarding his supposed presence at former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s private residence.
The EC chairman issued a statement saying an article was published on two Facebook pages on Thursday (May 17) of his alleged presence at Najib's home, and had given a vulgar statement to reporters staking out the area.
“The article was published on ‘Amboi Media Network’ and ‘Informasi Malaysia Kini’, using photos and a video of someone who resembles me,” Mohd Hashim said on Friday.
As a result of the false accusation, he said, members of the public had started posting vulgar messages which could give threaten his safety.
“I deplore the irresponsible actions by the handlers of those Facebook pages,” Mohd Hashim said, adding that a report would be made to the authorities against the page handlers for the fake accusations.
