KUALA TERENGGANU: The new PAS government in Terengganu is expected to be different from the one in 1999 with the fresh administration preparing to learn from its past mistakes.

Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar (pic) said he does not want to compare his administration with the one in 1999 as the situation was different then.

“With social media and wider Internet reach, we are in a different era and we need to move forward from now on,” said Dr Ahmad Samsuri, who started his first official day as Mentri Besar on Monday.

The Ru Rendang assemblyman clocked in to his new office at around 8.55am and later joined other PAS members as well as state exco members to perform the Solat Hajat prayer at Wisma Darul Iman.

Dr Ahmad Samsuri said the new PAS administration will identify areas that needed to be changed or improved on.

“There will be areas where we have to reinvent our approach to settle issues.

“If we need to, we are prepared to find ways to readjust our approach according to the new environment.

“After all, insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results,” he said, paraphrasing a saying often attributed to theoretical physicist Albert Einstein.

Dr Ahmad Samsuri, who is also PAS election director, said he was happy and excited to start his new post and will do his best to shoulder the trust placed on him.

“If we carry out our duties well, accept them as they are.

“If we make mistakes, guide us and help us,” he said.
