IPOH: More Barisan Nasional representatives are expected to join Pakatan Harapan in Perak, said state Pakatan chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu said.
Two Barisan reps have already joined Pakatan giving the coalition the needed numbers to form the state government.
Ahmad Faizal, after meeting Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, then announced to the crowd gathered outside the palace that Pakatan had secured enough seats to form the state government.
“We received the support from two Barisan state assemblymen.
“So, we now have 31 seats and we expect the numbers to increase,” he said after Pakatan assemblymen were granted an audience with the Perak Ruler at Istana Kinta here yesterday morning.
The crowd greeted the 1.15pm announcement with jubilation and many immediately took to sharing the news on social media.
In GE14, Pakatan won 29 seats in the 59-seat state assembly.
Barisan took 27 seats while PAS had taken three.
Earlier yesterday, the Sultan also met with former mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and three representatives from PAS-Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, who won Gunong Semanggol, Khalil Yahaya (Kubu Gajah) and Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin (Selama).
