DAP takes Sibu and Lanang in Sarawak seats with bigger margins

SIBU: DAP candidates for Sibu and Lanang not only retained their seats but won by bigger majorities.

Oscar Ling (pic) won Sibu with a majority of 11,422 votes in a four-cornered fight. He collected 33,811 votes against his main opponent, Wong Kee Yew from SUPP, who received 22,389 votes.

Of the other two candidates, Tiew Hie Huong (Sarawak Peace Party) managed to get 377 votes while Tiong IngTung (State Reform Party Sarawak) polled only 176 votes.

In GE13, Ling won by a majority of 2,841 votes.

DAP's Alice Lau was ecstatic after beating her two challengers, Kong Sien Chiu of SUPP with a big majority of 14,546 votes.

She collected 29,905 votes against 15,359 votes for Kong. The third candidate Priscilla Lau of Sarawak Peace Party got only 628 votes.

In the 2013 election, she won by a majority of 8,630 votes.

Both Ling and Lau attributed their victories to the national tsunami.
