KOTA KINABALU: Don’t forget your MyKad and tissues on May 9, says Kota Marudu MP Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili (pic).
He said these two things were important for those wanting to vote on polling day.
“These two things are important. One ensures you are eligible to vote and the other will make sure your vote counts,” he said during a gathering at Kampung Nolotan in Kota Marudu on Tuesday.
The Energy, Green Technology and Water minister said that the MyKad is the only document recognised by Election Commission personnel to identify registered voters.
“The tissue, or handkerchief, is to cover your inked finger to prevent it from smudging the ballot papers,” Maximus said.
The Kota Maradu incumbent said that a little smudge could compromise the ballot paper.
He also reminded voters to be careful “when marking the ‘X’ on their ballot papers”, stressing that every vote counted.
