PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar has urged Malaysians to vote with their conscience to make a positive change.
“Vote with your heart. Vote sincerely. Let good judgment prevail. Vote for people with integrity, honour, transparency, accountability and those who are hardworking and trustworthy, so that these qualities can be imbued in a government that they represent,” the former Cabinet minister said in an open letter yesterday.
Syed Hamid, who had previously served as ministers of Foreign Affairs and Home, and also SPAD chairman, said he hoped the public would listen to the voices of reason amidst all the “gifts”, flashy advertising campaigns and fear-mongering tactics.
“We, as voters, are not here to make the strong even stronger,” he said.
“While we should respect those in power, we should not fear them.
“Think carefully about the future and know that any decision you make on May 9 will not only affect the next five years, it will set a precedence for years to come.
“The future is in our hands.”
