BUTTERWORTH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak approved development projects worth over RM40mil in Tasek Gelugor and Kepala Batas, both of which will ensure the people in the two parliamentary constituencies in Pakatan Harapan-ruled Penang are not neglected.
Among the projects are a RM30mil health clinic in Teluk Ayer Tawar, RM9mil for the upgrading of the existing police cabin in Penaga into a police station and construction of a RM250,000 health clinic, either in Pasir Gebu or Kuala Muda.
Najib’s announcement was greeted with loud cheers from a big crowd during his stop at the two constituencies yesterday.
He also said the Government would study plans for the construction of a 250-lot parking complex at the Tasek Gelugor train station and approved RM3.5mil for the upgrading of a mosque in Sungai Lokan.
“I’m confident Barisan Nasional will retain these two parliamentary constituencies. I urge the voters to continue supporting us in order for development to be brought in.
“If there is a need by the people, Barisan will deliver,” he added.
Najib urged the people to be wary of information posted on social media.
“This is the season for them (the Opposition) to create a tsunami of slanders.
“How many times have there been floods in Penang?
“Pity Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon. When he was in power, he used to be criticised.
“But his record of looking after the environment in Penang is far better than that of the DAP,” he said.
Dr Koh is the former Penang chief minister.
Among those who accompanied Najib were Penang Barisan chairman Teng Chang Yeow, Penang Umno chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman and Penang MCA chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng.
The others were incumbent Kepala Batas parliamentary candidate Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and incumbent Tasek Gelugor parliamentary candidate Datuk Shabudin Yahaya who are defending their seats.
