SEREMBAN: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) says certain Umno veterans are showing support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pakatan Harapan for reasons unknown to him.

"It will not affect Barisan or Umno. They have the choice to do so, for the reasons that I don't know. Maybe this is due to their loyalty to Dr Mahathir," he said.

"Some of the veteran leaders who are now campaigning for Pakatan were previously censured by leaders of the Opposition coalition," he added.

Khairy was asked to comment on the recent developments where former Umno veterans such as Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz and Tun Daim Zainuddin were campaigning for Pakatan candidates.

On Saturday (May 5), Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor confirmed that the party had expelled the two former Umno ministers for colluding with the Opposition.

Tan Sri Rais Yatim, who has allegedly been critical of the government, will be facing disciplinary action.

At the event, Khairy also urged residents to support Barisan candidates Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who is running for the Seremban parliamentary seat and Siow Koi Voon, who will be contesting the Temiang state seat.
