KUALA LUMPUR: Seputeh MCA division assistant secretary Chan Quin Er is being pitted against incumbent MP Teresa Kok Suh Sim for the Seputeh parliamentary seat.
Although a fresh face in the elections, she is all set for the challenge.
“I'm excited and relieved my nomination was accepted," said the 31-year-old former deputy public prosecutor.
Kok has won the Seputeh seat for the past four terms since 1999. In 2013 she defeated MCA's Nicole Wong by a massive majority of 51,552.
Kok voiced her concerns about fellow candidates.
"One candidate did not bring her identity card during Nomination Day while P akatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir's flight to Langkawi was delayed due to technical problems. I hope the elections will be selamat (safe) for all candidates," said Kok.
