RM100mil projects for Mersing in fish, milk and tourism industries

MERSING: Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin announced almost RM100mil in projects that he said would benefit the inhabitants this Johor seaside town.

The caretaker Johor Mentri Besar said construction will begin soon on the projects that will be carried out via the East Coast Economic Region Development Council.

He also took a swipe at former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad, whom he accused of doing little for Mersing.

“A certain someone only focused on developing Langkawi and ignored Mersing,” he said at an event held at Pantai Penyabong beach here on Wednesday (April 18).

Among the projects Mohamed Khaled announced were:

- An integrated fish processing park at Endau worth RM70mil;

- A dairy centre in Jemaluang worth RM26.5mil; and

- A new “kampungstay” type of homestay tourism programme that will get the whole village involved near Air Papan beach, worth RM15mil.
