JASIN: Police have arrested two suspected drug peddlers here and crippled a drug distribution network in the process.
Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Arshad Abu said its anti-narcotics team here arrested two suspects, both aged 28, and seized 140g of heroin, 60g of syabu and other psychotropic drugs with a street value of about RM10,000.
The team, led by Insp Kalvindergit Singh Jit Singh, detained the duo recently after an investigation that lasted for several weeks.
The first arrest was made at Kampung Tehel, Bemban, here where four packets of Syabu and Ecstasy pills were confiscated.
DSP Arshad said the suspect, a hawker, had five previous criminal records and tested positive for Methamphetamine.
The second raid was carried out at Taman Dato Hj Abdul in Merlimau, here where heroine and several psychotropic pills were confiscated.
DSP Arshad Abu added the second suspect had nine previous criminal records relating to drug abuse and theft.
He said that the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
