IPOH: A man’s attempt to woo his ex-wife back turned tragic when he was allegedly murdered by the woman and her lover.

Police said he was shot three times – in the head, chest and abdomen – and his body left next to a superbike near a plantation along the Gerik-Kupang road on April 7.

Perak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Yahya Abd Rahman said a special task force comprising members of the Bukit Aman and Perak Crime Investigation Departments was set up to probe the slaying.

On April 10 and 11, police arrested the 38-year-old ex-wife, her 42-year-old lover and another man in his mid-30s from different locations in Gerik.

“One of the suspects admitted during questioning to shooting the victim, and took police to two places where items significant to the murder were retrieved,” SAC Yahya said at a press conference here yesterday.

“A Colt pistol and 35 rounds of ammunition were found while raiding the house of the male suspect’s mother in Kampung Jong, Gerik.

“Two mobile phones, belonging to the victim that were discarded in some bushes underneath a bridge along the Gerik-Kupang road, were also found.”

SAC Yahya said police believed the murder was driven by jealousy because the victim had been trying to make up with his ex-wife, a contractor whom he divorced in December after about a year of marriage.

“The 42-year-old suspect is a married man himself, with three children. Their relationship had been going on for about two years,” he said.

It is learned that the victim bumped into the couple on the day of the incident and followed them to the plantation area.

“All the suspects are still being remanded. We consider this case solved and are preparing the investigation paper for the couple to be charged with murder,” added SAC Yahya.
