BERA: The people of Langkawi will make the “right choice”, considering that special attention has been given to them by the Prime Minister, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Deputy Prime Minister said a direct electricity supply project for nearby Pulau Tuba had been launched by Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, besides giving focus to the development and upgrading of tourism facilities there.
“God willing, under the leadership of Barisan Nasional, Langkawi will continue to enjoy development.
“But if the people choose differently, I am worried that development can’t be carried out,” he told reporters after opening the Bera police headquarters here yesterday.
Dr Ahmad Zahid was commenting on Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s candidacy for Langkawi.
He said Dr Mahathir’s contributions to Langkawi were now history.
Earlier in his speech, Dr Ahmad Zahid urged the people to be grateful for the development that had been planned and undertaken in their areas.
“I hope the people will not be influenced by the anti-establishment attitude during every election,” he added.
He also asked Triang voters to give their mandate to Barisan and that he would work to fulfil their wish to have a police station reopened there.
