GEORGE TOWN: Barisan Nasional’s manifesto for Penang is a copycat version of Pakatan Harapan’s policies in the state, said Lim Guan Eng.
The DAP secretary-general said the Barisan manifesto had a similar initiative such as payment for senior citizens.
However, he said Barisan had claimed that the money for Pakatan’s initiative was from non-halal means.
“And now, they’ve decided to increase the amount for such benefits under their manifesto,” Lim said.
On the RM15mil fund allocation per year for national-type, religious and private Chinese schools proposed in Barisan’s manifesto, Lim, who is also Chief Minister, said the state government already gave RM16mil to such schools this year.
“The Barisan government never gave such payments when they were in power.
“They also never had a concrete plan to reduce traffic congestion in the state,” he told a press conference in Komtar yesterday.
“The move to cancel the Penang Undersea Tunnel is totally irresponsible as it is baffling how they would pay the compensation to the private companies if they cancel the project.”
