Cops nab businessman with drugs worth over RM116K at Batu Gajah shoplot

IPOH: Police have arrested a 55-year-old businessman and seized some RM116,340 worth of heroin at a shophouse in Batu Gajah, Perak.

Perak Narcotics chief Asst Comm R. Ravi Chandran said based on their intelligence, a team raided the shophouse in Batu Gajah Perdana last Friday (April 13) at about 10.45pm.

"During our check, we found nine plastic packets containing 3.8kg of heroin.

"He also tested positive for methamphetamine (syabu)," he told a press conference here Tuesday (April 17).

ACP Ravi Chandran said the suspect will be remanded until April 20.

"Based on our investigations, he did not have any previous criminal cases.

"He will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence," he added.
