KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) is offering RM5,000 for any useful information on a doctored video attacking its president Datuk Yong Teck Lee.
Yong said the reward was for anyone who could help them find the people responsible for doctoring the video clip, where foul language in the local Hakka dialect was used to describe him.
“We had placed advertisements in local newspapers,” he said, adding the video was said to have originated in Tawau.
He said those with information can contact 011-25673159.
In the doctored video, Yong's voice has been dubbed over by another man's voice.
"It contained many foul words in Hakka, attacking me personally. We want to send a strong message that we will not tolerate smear tactics in any circumstances,” Yong said.
On Wednesday (April 11), the party lodged a police report over the viral video.
On Friday (April 13), SAPP released the original video along with portions of the doctored clip.
Yong said this was to tell the public what was actually in the original video.
