PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has left Seri Perdana after a session with a few Barisan Nasional MPs to talk about their GE14 candidacy.
It is learnt that he met the incumbent lawmakers to remind them about the importance of their support and loyalty to Barisan – whether they will be contesting or not.
The Barisan chairman left his official residence Seri Perdana at around 11.30am on April 16 and has two engagements later in the afternoon in Kuala Lumpur – the Putrajaya Forum and to open the Defence Services Asia and National Security exhibition 2018.
Several MPs who stopped to speak to reporters on their way out of Seri Perdana said that Najib spoke about putting Barisan and party matters above self interests.
Incumbent Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said Najib spoke about unity, family spirit and loyalty.
Tapah MP Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said those who attended were reminded to support Barisan, even if they were not chosen to contest in the polls.
"He wants us to defend and support the party, even if we are dropped," he said.
Incumbent Santunbong MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said that the Barisan chairman thanked all the lawmakers for their services over the past five years.
However, he did not mention anything about their candidacy.
