Terengganu BN reveals five pledges in manifesto

HULU TERENGGANU: Terengganu Barisan Nasional has made five election pledges should it retain the state in GE14.

The pledges were revealed in the state Barisan's manifesto which was launched by its chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman here Thursday.

The pledges were uplifting Islam and religious harmony; reducing the people's burden; gearing up the TN50 generation towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution; empowering education; and encouraging women's involvement in various fields.

The manifesto also contained 20 state-specific touch points to complement the federal-level Barisan manifesto announced last weekend by Barisan chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Among the touch points include building the third phase of the East Coast Expressway (LPT3), which extends the existing route from Kuala Terengganu to Kelantan.

It also plans to reduce toll rates at the LPT2 up to 50% in phases.

At present, it costs RM43.30 for a "Class 1" vehicle to travel from Karak in Pahang to Kuala Terengganu via the LPT2.

Terengganu Barisan also pledged to create 40,000 jobs for its people as well as building 20,000 units of affordable homes.

The flood-prone state will also see the setting up of an integrated flood evacuation centre in every district, should Barisan form the state government.

Ahmad Razif, who is also Mentri Besar, was speaking at a "meet-the-people" event in Kuala Berang here, in conjunction with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's one-day visit to the state.
