GLC chiefs show they can do music in 'Hebat Negaraku' video

PETALING JAYA:  Several heads of government-linked companies (GLCs) have come together in a heartwarming music video titled "Hebat Negaraku" (my country is great).

The music video showcases the musical talents of 14 GLC heads, plus staff members, as they perform the catchy song on a stage.

The music video was released on YouTube on Thursday (March 22).

Axiata Group chief corporate officer Mohamad Idham Nawawi, Sime Darby Property Berhad managing director Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin and UEM Sunrise chairman Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa were seen playing the guitar.

RHB Banking Group CEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli was on the drums.

All the other GLC heads sang.

The song, titled "Hebat Negaraku", is about the greatness, advancement, and inspiration of Malaysia.

The music video also featured several photos of GLC heads engaging with the community and giving back to social causes via various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

The four-and-a-half-minute video ended with the words: "Continuing the nation's greatness through GLCs."

CIMB Group Holdings Berhad CEO Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad CEO Khairul Kamarudin, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad managing director Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad managing director Datuk Mohd Badlisham and UEM Group Berhad CEO Datuk Izzaddin Idris were among the vocalists.

Other GLC heads who showed off their vocals were Telekom Malaysia Berhad CEO Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, Lembaga Tabung Haji managing director Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, Affin Bank Berhad CEO Kamarul Ariffin Mohd Jamil, Pharmaniaga Berhad managing director Datuk Farshila Emran and Malaysia Airlines Berhad CEO Captain Izham Ismail.
