KUALA LUMPUR: A report that missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has been found is unfounded and baseless, said the MH370 response team.
Its head Datuk Seri Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said the team was aware of a widely circulated report titled "MH370 found on Google Earth".
The team, he said, had always been guided by the views, opinions and verifications from the group of experts in Australia.
“As such, the MH370 response team wishes to note that this report is unfounded and baseless,” said Azharuddin, who is also Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chairman, in a statement Monday.
He advised members of the public to refer to the response team and its MH370 website for verified and accurate reports and news relating to the missing plane.
“The team feels that it's unethical to issue such a report,” Azharuddin said, adding that the feelings of the families and loved ones of those on board MH370 should be respected.
The Boeing 777 with 239 people on board vanished during its journey from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. Efforts to find the aircraft have so far proved futile. - Bernama
