KUALA LUMPUR: The fire that broke out at the storeroom in Hospital Kuala Lumpur has been extinguished and medical services are operating as usual, says hospital director Dr Nor Akma Yusuf.
She said the storeroom, which caught fire at around 12.15pm on Saturday, is located at the hospital's National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) building.
"The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted and the fire was brought under control before it could spread.
"According to the procedure, we evacuated staff and patients from nearby buildings," she said in a statement on the hospital's Facebook page on Saturday.
She added that services at the hospital are not affected.
"The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire is still being assessed.
"I urge the public to not speculate and spread false information on the incident," she said.
