SHAH ALAM: The High Court has dismissed a counter-claim by the Selangor Mentri Besar in a RM14bil suit filed by Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd, which had earlier been struck out.

Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir dismissed Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s counter-claim after finding no cause of action against Puncak Niaga, which had filed the suit over the restructuring of the state’s water industry.

On Feb 22, the court struck out Puncak Niaga’s suit following applications by Azmin, his predecessor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and the Selangor government, saying Puncak Niaga’s statement of claims was defective.

Azmin had also filed a counter-claim against Puncak Niaga on grounds that the latter intentionally filed the suit with no valid grounds. — Bernama
