NILAI: Police have arrested five Form Four students on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a schoolmate here.

Sources said the suspects were arrested at their school at around 12.30pm for assaulting a Form 4 on Monday (March 12).

"The victim was allegedly assaulted along a corridor and sustained bruises and swelling to his head, face and back," said the source, adding that jealousy may have triggered the attack.

The source said one of the five suspects had apparently challenged the victim to a fight. He then attacked the victim and the others joined in.

The main suspect broke his left arm while assaulting the victim who then sought treatment at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban.

The case is being investigated as rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

State police chief Dep Comm Datuk Noor Azam Jamaluddin confirmed the arrests.
