GEORGE TOWN: Police are looking for a motorcyclist who smashed the car windscreen of a Uber driver with a stone at the traffic light junction near Komtar here.

Video of the incident, which took place on March 8, has since gone viral on Facebook.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said during the incident the 46-year-old woman driver was driving along Jalan Ria after dropping her passenger nearby.

“When she stopped her car at the traffic light, a motorcyclist with his pillion rider, suddenly came from the opposite direction and threw a stone smashing the car’s windscreen.

“The victim failed to note down the motorcycle’s registration number as it happened too fast,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Initial investigations, ACP Anuar said, showed that the motorcyclist had honked at the victim several times earlier.

“From the footage, it has been confirmed that a motorcyclist with his female pillion rider were involved but the registration number was not clear. We have sent the footage to the forensic department to be enhanced.

“A police report over the incident was lodged on March 8. The case is being investigated as mischief under Section 427 of the Penal Code,” he added.
