AMPANG: The police are on the hunt for a 56-year-old man suspected of child abuse following a report lodged by an Ampang Hospital medical officer on March 11.
"The initial medical examination showed signs of serious bleeding at the head," said Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Alias in a statement on Monday (March 12) night.
On March 11, a medical officer from the Ampang Hospital notified the police that a four-year-old Indonesian girl had been admitted with bruises all over her body.
The girl was also unconscious at the time.
It is also believed that the mother of the child had asked a friend to act as a temporary guardian.
ACP Hamzah added that the mother had earlier noticed signs of bruises.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for child abuse.
