Court slams Anwar’s bid to set aside conviction

KUALA LUMPUR: A High Court here slammed an attempt by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to set aside his sodomy conviction through a civil suit, calling it a ‘backdoor and veiled attempt’ to derail the court process.

High Court judge Justice Nik Hasmat Nik Mohamad said she was throwing out Anwar’s suit because he had tried to base it on allegations of perjury and fraud without any specific references.
