Bomba: Open burning believed to have sparked off bushfires in Miri

MIRI: Approximately 35 hectares of bush land have caught fire over the past 24 hours here, said Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.

"Since Sunday (March 11), our personnel in Miri and Lopeng had to deal with bushfires in the Marina area, Tudan and Pulau Melayu. The bushfires at Marina burned 12ha, 20 ha in Tudan and 2ha in Pulau Melayu," he said.
