PETALING JAYA: International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) lecturer and terrorism researcher Dr Maszlee Malik is expected to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi).

It is understood that Dr Maszlee’s membership is expected to be officially announced by Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Menara Yayasan Selangor on Monday (March 12).

This comes after Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) former CEO Wan Saiful Wan Jan joined Pribumi last week.

Dr Maszlee, a 44-year-old Johor native, has served in several think tanks and was featured in forums concerning the Arab Spring, Islam and Middle Eastern politics.

Attempts to contact Dr Maszlee for confirmation have failed.
