KUALA LUMPUR: Former Agriculture Minister Tan Sri Sanusi Junid, 75, has passed away at his home in Pantai Dalam here on Friday (March 9).
His former press secretary Aziman Hasan confirmed the matter when contacted by Bernama, adding that Sanusi died before dawn.
He said that prayers would be held at the Saidina Umar Al-Khattab Mosque in Bukit Damansara and that Sanusi would be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery.
However, Aziman did not reveal the cause of Sanusi's death.
Sanusi was the former National and Rural Development Minister in 1981 and the Agriculture Minister in 1986 before being appointed Kedah Mentri Besar from 1996 to 1999.
Meanwhile, Sanusi's son, Akhramsyah Sanusi said his father died before he could join his wife for morning prayers.
"Yesterday, my father went for a medical check-up and everything was fine. In fact he even attended the launch of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto on Thursday night without showing signs of a health problem," said Akhramsyah.
"This morning, my father had performed his ablutions and was waiting to go for prayers when he suddenly fell unconscious,” he added when met at his residence in Pantai Dalam today. - Bernama
