MIRI: Two health memos that caused a stir on social media are not connected and there is no major disease outbreak in Miri city.
One memo was a directive from Miri Hospital deterring children from going there. The second memo ordered the closure of a classroom in SK Miri.
Sarawak Assistant Tourism Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the two memos were unrelated.
“Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong said the first memo was issued as the children’s ward is full due to common ailments that the hospital does not want to spread,” he said.
On the SK Miri case, he said some pupils had contracted hand, foot and mouth disease and the classroom was closed for cleaning.
