Armed robber shot dead in Gombak, two others escape

GOMBAK: An armed robber was shot dead by police while two other suspects escaped in an incident near Templer Saujana here.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday (March 9) while a team from the Selangor Serious Crimes Unit was conducting an operation there.

The team received information from the Gombak police operations centre about an attempted house break-in in the area and encountered three men acting suspiciously while patrolling.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the police team tried to stop the three suspects but they turned aggressive.

"One of them started swinging a machete at the police forcing them to fire at the suspect in self defence. The other two suspects managed to escape," he said.

Comm Mazlan added that police have seized a machete and tools believed to have been used in house break-ins from the scene.
