PETALING JAYA: Financial independence is crucial to women’s empowerment, and one of the ways to achieve it by investing in property.
Who better to give pointers to help women make decisions on buying property than Mah Sing Group Berhad director of Group Strategy & Operations Jane Leong.
“It’s important for women to know when to start purchasing property and how much to invest. Owning property can give women a sense of security, and it is a form of empowerment,” said Leong, who will be speaking in a panel discussion on “Women and Wealth” at the Star Media Group’s Women’s Fiesta at The Starling Mall this Saturday.
The fiesta is held in conjunction with the Star Media Group’s WOW-Women do Wonders campaign, which was launched yesterday.
Leong said her company, Mah Sing, one of the campaign’s main partners, believes in women’s capabilities.
“At Mah Sing, we do not discriminate based on gender. Women are given equal opportunity to succeed if they have the spirit and drive,” said Leong at the campaign launch.
Almost half of the property development company’s employees are women, and 50% of its department heads are women. There are two women directors on its management board.
“To support our women employees, we have set up a lactation room for breastfeeding mothers at work. Nap rooms are also available for employees wanting a quick break,” she added.
Join Leong at the Women and Wealth panel discussion with Hong Leong Investment Bank group managing director and CEO Lee Jim Leng, Propedia Consultancy principal Vicky How and entrepreneur Christy Ng this Saturday morning. StarBiz assistant editor Tee Lin Say will be moderating the session.
