Businessman and lawyer selected for Alor Setar seats

ALOR SETAR: MCA has determined two candidates to contest the Alor Setar parliamentary and Kota Darulaman state seats.

Party president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said Alor Setar MCA division vice-chairman Tan Eng Hwa is the party’s choice for the Kota Darulaman state seat while national organising secretary Datuk Yoo Wei How would contest the Alor Setar parliamentary seat.

“Both leaders have been working hard on the ground with non-governmental organisations and the people.

“I have confidence in them and their names will now be sent to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he said after meeting with division members at its headquarters in Jalan Pegawai yesterday.

Tan and Yoo, both 45, were born and raised in Alor Setar.

Tan, a lawyer, said he would work closely with Yoo, a businessman, as a team and urged all division members to give them full support.

“For the past two years, we have been going to the ground to better understand the people’s needs,” said Tan to reporters.
