DUNGUN: There is no room for pettiness and infighting in Barisan Nasional with the general election imminent, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said.
“We have no time for trivial matters,” he said at the launch of Barisan’s election machinery here.
“What matters now is that we are united to face our battles on polling day.”
Hishammuddin, who is also Defence Minister and Special Functions Minister, urged party members to support the chosen candidates.
He said Barisan’s top leadership is studying the proposed candidates and the final list will be announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“I have never seen him and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi make such detailed preparations. I hope this will be appreciated by everyone,” he said.
At the launch, Hishammuddin also witnessed party members and supporters pledging their support for Barisan leaders at federal and state level, and vowing not to sabotage the selected candidates.
“You must do as you pledge in order to achieve victory. A strong spirit means nothing without sincere action,” he said.
After launching the ruling coalition’s state convention in Kuala Terengganu later, Hishammuddin advised Barisan members not be too comfortable despite the state being better than it was before.
