Two boys drown while swimming at waterfalls in Gerik


IPOH: Two teenagers drowned while swimming at the Lata Kulim Waterfalls in Kampung Kenayat, Gerik on Thursday (March 1).

The two boys, aged 16 and 17, had gone swimming with eight other friends there after school.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received the emergency call at 2.05pm.



The body of the first victim was found at 3.10pm and the second at 3.28pm.

"The site of the incident is 2km away from the main road and is only accessible by a four-wheel drive," the spokesman said. 

Firemen later handed both bodies over to the police after the rescue operation ended at 4.45pm.
