Going to great heights for festivities

A sight to behold: The 18.3m-high altar commissioned by Chan outside his house at Taman Tawas Idaman.

Ipoh: Optical shop operator Chan Yaw Choo had a 18.3m-high altar built outside his house at Taman Tawas Idaman here to celebrate the Jade Emperor God’s birthday.

Chan, 39, also used a crane to “hold” nine 6m-long dragon joss sticks to pray to the deity yesterday.
