Rapid Penang's former COO jailed 14 days, fined RM1.05mil for graft

KUANTAN: Rapid Penang's former chief operating officer was sentenced to two weeks in jail and fined RM1.05mil for bribery on Thursday (Feb 22).

Sessions Court judge Dazuki Ali meted out the sentence to Mohd Shukri Abdul Rahman, 55, here after he pleaded guilty to three bribery charges for accepting RM210,000 from a company between 2014 and 2016. 

According to the facts of the case, Mohd Shukri received the money in three transactions from Jayonik MSC Sdn Bhd as an inducement to issue a letter awarding the company a project worth RM8.4mil.
