SHAH ALAM: A businessman with a “Datuk” title and five others have been charged with 93 counts of cheating an air-conditioning company by making false transportation charge claims amounting to more than half a million ringgit.
Datuk R. Shanmugam, 46; P. Sugumaran, 50; C. Karuppiah, 41; V. Murugesu, 55; M. Kanesan, 38; and Yap Siew Hiong, 46, were charged with cheating Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s staff and officer through claims, submitted via invoices by five companies, that were said to be genuine.
They are said to have dishonestly induced Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning to reimburse the companies, named as Teguh Marine Inspection Sdn Bhd, WLS Container Lines Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Green Valley Resources, Tiban Enterprise and Pandan Cerah Sdn Bhd.
The amount of claims involved ranged from RM1,600 to RM14,000, for a total of RM505,750.
The offences were allegedly committed at Lot 2, Persiaran Tengku Ampuan, Section 21, Shah Alam Industrial Site, between April 17, 2008 and May 15, 2014.
The six claimed trial before Sessions Court Judge Adli Abd Ghalib yesterday.
The court fixed March 26 for mention.
