Cops nab 67 for drug and documentation offences in early morning raids

KUALA LUMPUR: Police launched an operation early Wednesday (Feb 14) morning to weed out drug abusers.

City deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob said the operation which began at around 4am involved police from the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department and the National Anti Drug Agency.

"Our operations focused on Kuala Lumpur Pasar Borong area.

"We arrested eight locals and 59 foreigners, aged between 21 and 50, in the raid .

"15 of those arrested tested positive for drugs while the other 47 were arrested for not having valid documents.

"The remaining five were released following documentation processes," he said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He said those arrested were taken to the Sentul police headquarters for further action.

"We are investigating the case under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Immigration Act 1959/63," he said adding that police would continue their operations to combat illegal immigrant activities and drug crimes here.
