SHAH ALAM: More than 200 protests against the redelineation exercise in Selangor were handed over to the state Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday.

The protests were handed to state EC officers by Pakatan Harapan leaders and Bersih representatives.

Among the top Pakatan leaders present with Bersih chairman Maria Chin Abdullah were PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Parti Amanah Nasional president Mohamad Sabu and DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke, among others.

Reading from a statement, Dr Wan Azizah said the protests handed in to the EC bore some 30,000 signatures collectively gathered by Pakatan component parties together with Bersih.

"These protests represent the voice of the people of Selangor hoping for the EC to act in a professional and fair manner without taking the side of any party and to peruse the protests in a transparent manner and based on the facts presented," said Dr Wan Azizah.

The Bersih 2.0 Steering Committee issued a statement saying that the EC's role is to ensure fair delineation so voters are able to elect the representative of their choice without any encumbrance.
