PADANG TERAP: Educational institutions under the Education Ministry are required to follow the instructions issued by the Education Director-General's Office pertaining to the Chinese New Year holidays.
Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (pic) said the instructions were stated in Circular No. 10, 2017 on School Terms and Holidays for 2018.
"We hope there will be no violation of the circular so that all students and teachers can enjoy the stipulated Chinese New Year holiday," he told reporters after opening the annual general meeting of Padang Terap ATM Veterans here Saturday.
Mahdzir said this in response to the National Union of Teaching Profession's statement which called for the Ministry's intervention following complaints from teachers and lecturers who were forced to follow instructions that contravened the circular.
The circular stated that the Chinese New Year holiday is from Feb 15 to 19. - Bernama
