GEORGE TOWN: A High Court here fixed five days from Oct 29 for the hearing of a defamation suit brought by Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd against Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan.

Justice Datuk Rosilah Yop fixed the dates during case management in chambers on Friday.

Huan’s counsel Datuk Baljit Singh said the defendant was expected to call 10 witnesses, including two Cabinet ministers, to testify in the case.

“One of them is Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan,” he told reporters.

The company, which was awarded the RM6.3bil Penang undersea tunnel project, filed the suit against Huan in August 2016.

In September last year, the High Court granted an application for an injunction by Consortium Zenith BUCG, the contractor of Penang undersea tunnel project, to stop Huan from making statements on the project against it.

The court also allowed the company’s application to strike out Huan’s counter suit.
