THE Election Commission should keep a list of all Malaysians who are 20 years old in order to persuade them to register as voters as soon as they turn 21.

Harian Metro reported that former EC deputy chairman Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Wan Omar (pic), who made the suggestion, said this could help reduce the high number of Malaysians who had yet to register as voters, which is estimated at nearly four million.

“If this suggestion is implemented, then as soon as a person turns 21, the EC can reach out to them online or via a letter to invite them to sign up as a voter,” said Wan Ahmad.
