KUALA LUMPUR: A gang involved in snatch thefts has been busted with the arrest of four members.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the gang - dubbed the "Abang Fahmi" gang - had been active since mid last year.

"They are responsible for 21 snatch theft cases in the city.

"The four suspects were arrested on Jan 26 and have been remanded for further investigation," he told a press conference on Monday (Feb 5).

He added that members of the gang would target pedestrians, and usually be armed with a samurai sword and a pocket knife.

"We seized the weapons and the stolen loot, including 18 mobile phones and a gold necklace," he said.
