KUALA LUMPUR: DAP is being arrogant when it thinks that it will sweep all Chinese votes in the coming election, said Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

The MCA president said it is DAP that is dependent on the Chinese community for their votes, but the Chinese do not owe them anything.

"They think that the Chinese community will vote for DAP. They think that all Chinese voters owe them something, but this is not the case," Liow told reporters after launching the Optimax Eye Specialist Sri Petaling branch here Sunday (Feb 4).

The Chinese community does not like arrogance, said Liow, adding that arrogance will cause DAP to ruin itself.

He said MCA will fight back and convince voters that there is no need for a disruptive party like the DAP.

Liow said the DAP-led Penang was riddled with issues, most recently being the controversial undersea tunnel project, which saw the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) swooping in.

Earlier, at the launch, Liow received a donation of RM300,000 for the 1MCA Medical Foundation presented by Optimax Eye Specialist founder and managing director Datuk Tan Boon Hock.

Since 2016, Optimax Eye Specialist has aided the foundation in providing free surgery for 100 underprivileged cataract patients.
