JOHOR BARU: Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar did not allow a burn injury to stop him from attending state-level Thaipusam celebrations at Sri Subramaniar temple here Wednesday.
His Majesty, with his right hand bandaged, arrived at the temple located along Jalan Dato Esa in Tampoi here at around 12pm with his son, Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar.
State unity and human resources committee chairman R. Vidyanathan, Sri Subramaniar temple chairman K. Arumugam, Pulai MP and Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed were there to greet the Johor royals.
Thousands of people waited along the side the road while waving the state flags to greet Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Idris.
In a post uploaded on his official Facebook page on Monday (Jan 29), Sultan Ibrahim, who enjoys cooking, explained that he had suffered severe burns on his right hand while preparing a meal for his sons on Saturday (Jan 28).
