IPOH: Three men were jointly charged at a magistrate's court here with two counts of trafficking 5.866kg of heroin.
S. Devasivasharman, 22; P.Muniswaran, 44, and G. Kalaiyarasan, 47, were alleged to have trafficked the drugs at a building in Jelapang, near here, at 12.30pm on Jan 17.
For the first charge, they are alleged to have trafficked heroin, weighing 2.672kg, at No 577, Jalan Jelapang.
They were slapped with a second charge of trafficking 3.194kg of the drug at the same time and place.
The charges under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act was read out to them before magistrate Nurul Hafizah Mohammad Pauzi. No plea was recorded.
The offences are punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Lawyers Charan Singh and Jagdave Singh represented the three accused, while deputy public prosecutor Nurul Qistina Qamarul Abrar prosecuted.
Nurul Hafizah set March 28 for mention pending a report from the chemist.
